Recruiting for 2026

A Life-Changing Experience
for Young Talents from CEE

We accelerate Central Eastern Europe decarbonization by supporting young talents and building bridges with the ASME engineering community.

Our Mission

Why CEE? Why Now?

The Central and Eastern European (CEE) region faces significant challenges in achieving decarbonization goals. Companies across the region need skilled professionals to drive the transition to a low-carbon future. IGTI-4-CEE exists to fill this talent gap and increase the currently limited participation of CEE professionals in the global dialogue.

Our 3 Strategic Pillars

1

Pillar 1 - Conference Scholarship

Our flagship program provides full travel funding and online preparation for students to attend the world's most prestigious turbomachinery conference.

London 2024: The Beginning

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can apply for the scholarship?

We welcome early-career participants from both academia and industry:

  • Academia: Master students, PhD students, or early-career researchers up to 5 years after obtaining their PhD.
  • Industry: Professionals with up to 8 years of experience.

Applicants must not have attended an ASME Turbo Expo previously.

What does the funding cover?

The program typically covers round-trip flights, hotel accommodation during the conference days, and the full conference registration fee for ASME Turbo Expo.

Do I need to submit a paper?

No, there is no strict requirement for an academic paper or poster publication, although it is acceptable and encouraged.

How are candidates selected?

Applications are assessed based on a points system:
  • Achievements: 2 points
  • Motivation: 1 point
  • Future Contribution: 1 point
In cases of equivalent candidates, preference will be given to the younger person.

Which countries participate in IGTI-4-CEE?

The program is aimed at students and young engineers from the entire Central & Eastern European (CEE) region. While we welcome applicants from all CEE countries, we currently see the strongest engagement and applicant numbers from Poland, Czechia, and Romania, where our structural presence is most established.

How did IGTI-4-CEE start?

The idea was born when two Polish researchers, Jarek Szwedowicz and Grzegorz Liśkiewicz, met at an ASME Turbo Expo conference. They noticed that there were very few other Polish researchers attending this prestigious event. Looking deeper, they realized this issue affected not just Poland, but the entire Central & Eastern European region. They presented this challenge to ASME, which offered financial support to promote Turbo Expo among young talents in the region. Today, thanks to growing support from the energy sector, we continue to expand our mission.

Can I register for the Hackathon without a team?

No, individual registration is not possible. You must form a team before registering to participate in the Hackathon.

Do you assist with visa applications?

No, we do not assist with the visa process directly. Candidates requiring a visa must apply early enough to secure it at least one month before the conference. However, we can provide an invitation letter to support your application once selected.
